Details:
The Government of Bangladesh is building its first nuclear power plant in Rooppur on the east side of the river Padma near Ishwardi in the Pabna district of Bangladesh. The project is being implemented by the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission (BAEC), under the guidance of the Science and Technology Ministry of the Government of Bangladesh. The nuclear power plant (NPP) will include two units namely Rooppur Unit-1 and Rooppur Unit-2 with a capacity of 1.2GW each. Foundation stone for the Rooppur NPP was laid in October 2013 and the first concrete for the main construction phase was poured in November 2017. Rooppur Unit-1 is scheduled to commence operations in 2023, while Rooppur Unit-2 is due to come online in 2024. The project will provide low-cost electricity and create new jobs in Bangladesh. The power production in Bangladesh currently exceeds 4GW a year. The new plant will increase the country’s power production and enable it to achieve energy independence.
Rooppur NPP construction details:
Construction of the nuclear power plant has been divided into stages, including the preparatory and main stages. The preparatory construction stage work was carried out during 2015-2016. It included the construction of amenities and office buildings, roads, security fences, and storage facilities.The main construction works include excavation works, the pit water removal system, development of pit for units one and two, soil stabilization works, and foundations for both the reactor units.

Details:
The Meghnaghat 450MW combined-cycle gas-fired power plant is on a 25.09ha site, 22km south of Dhaka on the northern bank of the Meghna River. The $289.6M plant was built by US-based AES (Allied Energy Systems) over a 22-year power purchase agreement with Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB). Operations at the plant began on November 2002. The Bangladeshi Government has been purchasing electricity from the Meghnaghat power plant at a price below two cents per unit, which is considered to be the lowest ever electricity price in the world. Pendekar Energy Group sought approval from the Power Ministry for enhancing the capacity of the Meghnaghat power plant by 170MW. Combined Cycle (South) unit of Ashuganj Power Station Company has started producing 450 MW in Brahmanbaria. This is a gas-based power plant that will contribute reduce the deficit of electricity. This power plant has begun to produce electricity commercially from Sunday afternoon. The sources said this gas-based unit has been added to the national grid more 450 MW. This power plant is one of the largest units in the country's electricity power plants. This power plant reducing the deficit and will keep an important role in the national economy. According to the technical department of the plant funeral, Ashuganj Power Station Company owns around 10 acres of land. Now from 8 units of Ashuganj power station, 1,132 MW electricity is being produced. Under construction 450 Combined Circle (North) unit will be ready to produce electricity from 2017. The power station consists of two identical gas-fired units with an initial capacity of 210 MW and generating capacity of 180 MW both. It is supplied from the Bakhrabad and Feni gas fields, and from the Sangu offshore field. The N210-12.9-538/538 super high-pressure intermediate reheat condensing, three cylinders double exhaustion turbo set turbine, installed at Unit 1, was manufactured by Dong Fang of China. It has a rated capacity of 210 MW and a normal speed of 3,000 RPM. The steam flow at rated parameter at full load is 652.5 t/h at the temperature of 538 °C (1,000 °F) with a live steam pressure of 12.9 MPa. The turbine was delivered in July 1991.

300-450 MW GAS BASED COMBINED CYCLE POWER PLANT undertaken by NEPC passed a simple cycle for 168 hours trial run smoothly. Operating parameters, the economic and technical indexes all achieved their superiority and all the rate of putting automatics into operation was 100% in the duration of the trial run.All people in the project department work together and coordinate closely with each other to overcome the high temperature, frequent rainfall, tight schedule, heavy tasks, equipment defects, and other difficulties since the contract was officially performed on August 16th, 2015. Eventually, the generating units went through the trial run for 168 hours on the schedule. The units are running stably at present and all people in the project department are an all-out sprint with working enthusiasm to achieve the combined cycle by the end of this year.
